Catalytic Converter
As its name implies, this component converts the harmful gases produced by an engine. The life expectancy of a converter is around 80,000 kilometres or 5 years, whichever comes first.
If the catalytic converter, or “cat”, has deteriorated or is damaged, it can seriously upset the performance of the vehicle. In some instances the vehicle won’t even be able to be driven and will need to be towed to us for further diagnostics.
Diesel Particulate Filters
A diesel particulate filter (or DPF) is a device designed to remove diesel particulate matter or soot from the exhaust gas of a diesel engine.
